Mardi Gras in Sydney: What to expect and when it’s happening

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is a yearly LGBT pride event and parade in Sydney. It has been held annually since 1978, on the second Saturday of March to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which began on June 28, 1969.

For this year 2022, it will be held on Saturday, March 5th.

The Mardi Gras is an excellent way to see Sydney with thousands of people from all around the world gathering on this day-long event, which comes to a close at midnight – Sydney is worth seeing at any time of year, but if you haven’t been before, it may be quite instructive seeing so much variation in such a small area where everyone gets along.

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is a chance to party, but it also has an important message: celebrating diversity. It brings everyone together for this celebration because we all love life and want other people to be happy too.

There are lots of things going on during the festival; there will be workshops about health issues, film screenings, art exhibitions and moreover the course of several days before the parade itself (which takes place at night).

You don’t want to miss out on anything you can experience while visiting Sydney as well as a great place to stay with a Sydney holiday rental.
